The 44th Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off Festival offers attendees eclectic fun in the sun for all ages. Tens of thousands of visitors will attend the event from 10 am to 8 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024, for a tasty festival nosh, art, beachfront entertainment, shopping, and more. Entry to the Street Fair is always free! The Chili Competition featured tastings from amateur entrants competing for the titles of Hottest Chili, Judges' Award, and Grand Prize: People's Choice Award. Chili Cook-Off - 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. - The Chili Cook-Off competition is held in the grassy area between Newport Avenue and the Pacific. Competitors will show off their chili cooking chops by competing for great prizes... not to mention the satisfaction of winning! Is eating (rather than cooking) delicious chili more your speed? Put your tastebuds to the test and cast a vote alongside the judges! This plein air class is taught at the quirky Model Yacht Pond in Mission Bay. Watch ducks fight with toy sailboats, speedboats, and steamships while listening to the running commentary of Mission Bay’s colorful inhabitants. Painting outdoors gives the artist the opportunity to experiment with light, color, and atmosphere. Work with San Diego landscape painter Kevin Inman to learn how to paint spontaneously, appreciate nature, and enjoy the moment. A day of spring will be celebrated at Diane Powers’ Bazaar del Mundo shops in Old Town with a tribute to beloved artist, Laurel Burch, and a curated selection of jewelry, fashion and décor at the free “Spring Pop-up, Curated by Bazaar del Mundo,” Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Bazaar del Mundo Shop courtyard. Laurel Burch’s unique images and designs became wildly popular in the '60s with her vividly colored feline images. While she passed away in 2007, her longtime fans continue to flock to the Bazaar del Mundo Shops which still feature her whimsical designs. Her daughter Aarin Burch will make an appearance to celebrate her mother’s 50th anniversary of the brand and showcase special anniversary items.
