Visitors anxiously awaiting the opportunity to meet Santa, share holiday wish lists, and take coveted family photos with Old St. Nick will enjoy the experience of visiting Santa Claus in Mission Valley’s beautifully decorated AMC Theatres Court this year. Nearby, there will be two special mailboxes (one under the giant Christmas tree and another at the Santa set) where children can drop off their personal letters to Santa. Opportunities for professional photos with Santa will begin immediately following Santa’s arrival at the center. Professional photo packages range from $39.99 to $49.99. In addition to paid professional photos, the center’s beautiful Santa set will also include a variety of no-cost selfie opportunities. To reduce overall wait times, families are strongly encouraged to make a reservation in advance of their visit. While strongly encouraged, a reservation is not required, and walk-up visits will be accommodated on a space-available basis.   • Learn the latest advances in caring for patients with orthopedic and sports medicine injuries at a daylong symposium, featuring expert presentations and discussions. The event will bring together sports medicine physicians; former professional athletes and coaches from Major League Baseball, the National Football League and the National Basketball Association; local team general managers; athletic trainers; physical therapists; and others on the front lines of sports and athletic care. Topics will include a thorough analysis of overhead throwing athletes, such as baseball pitchers; considerations for contact sports such as football, rugby and hockey; tracking and managing mental stress in athletes; overall athletic development, performance training and injury risk reduction; and health preservation after an athletic career.
