Join us for our always-popular annual Halloween evening tours. We’ll supply a flashlight and take you on a spooky after-dark visit through our 5-acre facility. Whose big eyes are those? What’s that eerie sound? I hear rustling nearby, but what is it? Boo at the Zoo! Tours are offered the last two Saturdays and Sundays in October (19, 20, 26, 27). Tickets are just $42 for adults (ages 12+) and $22 for kids (ages 5-11). With some great treat stations, this is great fun for the whole family. The Borrego Art Institute kicks off its 2024-2025 season Oct. 5 with “The Art of Flora and Fauna” showcasing our world’s astonishing plants, animals and elements. New and returning regional artists will present their work in a variety of mediums in the McQuown-Wermers Main Gallery. The North Gallery will feature “Starry Nights: Wildlife with a Twist,” paintings by Sarah Soward that merge the astronomy and mythology of the cosmos into wildlife paintings. Soward’s symbolic and surreal art centered on animals is an effort to elicit love and genuine concern for them. Artist Rinse de Konig’s show “Natural Impressions” will be spotlighted in the Alcove Gallery. His paintings of impressionistic scenes are “a world of color and peace,” featuring a composition that is uncomplicated but forceful through the choice of color and shape, where they become a story of their own.    The opening reception is Oct. 5 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. The shows run through November 3. The FACE Foundation’s 13th Annual Dog-Friendly Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the beautiful Fairbanks Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe. (registration opens at 11 a.m.) This unique tournament allows players to enjoy a day of golf with their furry friends followed by dinner, drinks, an exclusive auction, exciting awards ceremony, and more – all to support FACE’s lifesaving programs. Players will enjoy a friendly and competitive round of golf with their foursome, as well as fun on-course games, including a Hole in One contest. Following the tournament, players are invited to a special awards ceremony, “Yappy Hour,” and dinner. Guests will have a chance to win luxury prizes at our live auction, silent auction, and raffle. Our exclusive “Dream Ticket” raffle includes rounds of golf at some of Southern California’s finest country clubs. The event will directly benefit pets facing economic euthanasia – a reality that occurs when families are unable to afford life-saving treatment for their critically injured or ill pet.
