Victor will discuss the book's findings and look at the larger debate around the future of climate policy in the U.S. This public lecture is organized by the Deep Decarbonization Initiative at the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy. "The Bias Inside Us" is an exploration of the social science, psychology, and consequences of implicit bias. Bias is an innate human trait; we all have it. Being aware of our bias can help us recognize their influence and impact on our behaviors and worldview. "The Bias Inside Us" offers an opportunity to learn how to challenge bias in the world through awareness of one’s own bias. We are pleased to announce that the sixth annual Bi-national Re:Border Conference will take place on Tuesday, October 15. Add date to your calendar now. This year’s theme, “Designing Oportunidades,” is inspired by our San Diego-Tijuana region’s designation as the 2024 World Design Capital. This year’s conference will be held at San Diego State University, co-hosted by SDSU and Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Norte (UABC) in collaboration with other U.S. and Mexican partners. The conference will include interactive sessions involving interdisciplinary teams of researchers, educators, artists, public policy experts, industry leaders and community members. The conference will be bilingual, in English and in Spanish, including simultaneous translation sessions and activities. Planned sessions will address opportunities in ecological planning, social development, public and mental health, education access, economic policy, talent development, social inclusion, infrastructure development and cyber security. An art exhibit created by art majors who have produced artwork in studio courses in the MiraCosta College Art Department and are enrolled in ART 295, Visual Art/Professional Practice. All work in the exhibition will be premiered in the exhibition. Students collaborate to design all aspects of the exhibition and premiere their artwork as a culmination and capstone project of their semester studies.
