This 4-hour workshop is perfect for anyone excited to explore a different twist on a creative book structure. Originally created by Hedi Kyle, the traditional flag book has small panels that cross each other when the book opens and closes. In this modified version all of the panels sit in alignment, and when the book is open, your original, hand-decorated tags are on display. Students are welcome to bring their own paper sources they might choose to incorporate. No experience necessary. Calling all superheroes to take on the challenge of the City of Carlsbad’s Super Hero Obstacle Race. Dress up like your favorite super hero at Carlsbad's Super Hero Obstacle Race at Alga Norte Community Park. Parents and children run together through a super hero themed 2K obstacle course. Defeat villains while leaping over tall buildings, crawl through toxic tunnels and navigate 20 obstacles throughout the park. Conquer inflatable mazes and slides, wrecking balls, tights ropes, web crawlers and other obstacles along the way. Participants must be 4 years and older. Groups will be launched every 10 minutes. The race will take approximately one hour to complete. You can pick a start time that works for you. Registration is open until 5 p.m. the Friday before the event or at the event until 9:30 a.m., if it is not sold out. This year's Trolley Dances™ will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28th & 29th on the Green Line trolley. Tours will begin at Old Town with stops at Gaslamp Quarter, Seaport Village and Santa Fe Depot. In partnership with San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, SDDT has presented Trolley Dances™ for over 25 years. Trolley Dances™ was created by former Artistic Director Jean Isaacs to make dance accessible to our entire community by taking art “to the people.” Each fall, tour guides lead groups of audience members on and off the trolley to view original pieces of site-specific choreography.
