This month, LJAA will feature a demonstration by Ann Chaitin, a mixed-media artist. The demonstration will be held on Thursday, April 28 from 3-5 p.m. The demonstration will show how a variety of handmade papers, bits of nature, photos and found objects can be combined and layered to reflect a personal visual image. Chaitin says that "mixed media lends itself to working with varied textures and multiple layers, often becoming a symbolic representation of time or place or person that is real and personal." LITVAKdance premieres new works by artistic director, Sadie Weinberg and guest choreographers Chuck Wilt, Patricia Sandback, sol de la rosa and international choreographer Ido Gidron that delve into themes that consider our natural environment and human's place in it in Terrain and other dance stories. San Diego Botanic Garden (SDBG) Summer exhibition, "World of Houseplants", is officially in full swing running through Monday, September 5. With 66% of American households owning at least one houseplant (according to a 2020 Statista survey) and millennials driving 2021 houseplant sales (according to Garden Center Magazine), green thumbs can flock to take in San Diego Botanic Garden's World of Houseplants which has incorporated hundreds more houseplants, from easy, everyday plants to rare species to its already impressive collection of air plants, aroids, carnivorous plants and wax plants. SDBG is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Monday. Members of SDBG and other gardens participating in the American Horticultural Society's Reciprocal Admissions Program receive free admission. SDBG members get exclusive access to the exhibition on Sundays, 9 - 10 am. Non-member admissions range from $12 to $18. Entrance to the exhibition includes access to the rest of the Garden’s 37 acres during the same visit. The seven week run of World of Houseplants, will feature: Displays in the Garden’s state-of-the-art, 8,000 square foot, glass-enclosed facility, the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory, which will be enhanced in immersive, artistic designs incorporating hundreds of additional plants brought in for the exhibition On select days, vendors from the US and abroad will sell everyday plants and collector cuttings, potting materials, unique pots, and other houseplant products. SDBG will offer multiple classes and hand-on workshops to share information about caring for plants from begonias to bromeliads, potting techniques and supplies, keeping houseplants looking their best, and things to consider when setting up a plant collection. In "Everyday Dances II," Malashock Dance presents works by nine local choreographers, including Arts District at Liberty Station Emerging Artist resident Lavina Rich. The showcase, which features music ranging from Kendrick Lamar to Frank Zappa, is inspired by the concept of "mingei," or art for the people, and is a step towards a new future for Malashock dance.

Bring two pictures to class already divided in your photo gallery (1 a picture of the sky and clouds and 2) a picture of a tree or your favorite picture. The class is led using an iPhone.
