Show your commitment to positive change in San Diego County by volunteering with us September 8 for San Diego Gives Day of Service, a one-day, countywide collective volunteer effort to help support the transformational work of San Diego County nonprofits. This is an opportunity to enjoy a morning with family and friends helping to take care of our river bed. Careful removal of trash from the San Diego River Bed improves the health of the river ecosystem and all the creatures that depend upon it. Volunteers will bag trash and place items in provided containers T-Shirts will be handed out to all who pre-register and bottled water will be on hand if you forget to bring your own, compliments of United Way. * Families, corporate groups and service groups are welcome * Minors must be accompanied by an adult * Closed-toed shoes and long pants required * Sun protection is highly recommended: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc * Bring a reusable water bottle * Tools and supplies will be provided... BUT... * ... If you have a favorite pair of work gloves, snake gaiters, or 'grabbing' tool to pick up trash, then please feel free to bring them! * Restroom facilities available * Plan for walking on uneven terrain, stooping, and bending We hope to see you here!   • The Super Dentists host back-to-school bash at their new Escondido location with a carnival theme, Saturday, Aug. 12 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The day will start with free dental visits from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for kindergarten and first grade health and dental screenings. The back-to-school carnival will include games, live music, Escondido's Got Talent performers, local entertainment, big prizes, bubbles, face painting, movie premiere and more. The morning will also start with complimentary basic dental care to children in need. The Super Dentists hope to see and treat more than 100 kids.
