The San Diego Automotive Museum and the San Diego Blood Bank are teaming up to save lives through their annual blood drive on March 8 from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Ray Brock Hall of Fame on the second floor of the museum, located at 2080 Pan American Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101. Last year’s drive made a significant impact, with 40 draws helping to save around 120 lives, thanks to the generosity of community donors. As a token of appreciation, all donors will receive a free family membership to the San Diego Automotive Museum, which guarantees free unlimited admission for one year for two adults and four children in the same household as well as two guest passes. While appointments are preferred for participation in this life-saving initiative, walk-ins are also welcome, subject to availability. The San Diego Blood Bank must collect more than 350 units of blood each day to meet the needs of local patients throughout Southern California. Blood donations help those facing life-threatening conditions, including cancer, severe burns, trauma, emergency surgeries, organ transplants, and childbirth complications. Just one pint of blood can save three patients. All blood types are needed. Open daily from March 29 to April 20 Become immersed in the vibrant world of pollinators at Butterfly Jungle, returning this spring to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Once a year, the Hidden Jungle aviary bursts to life with hundreds of butterflies fluttering around lush foliage and flowers. During this immersive 20-minute experience, guests can offer nectar to butterflies, capture stunning photos, and discover the essential role butterflies play in nature. Wildlife care specialists and guides will be on hand to share insights and enhance your journey. A Butterfly Jungle Safari ticket is required for all guests, including members and children ages 1 and older ($18/person). Children under 1 require a complimentary infant pass (available at the ticket booth). A separate admission ticket or membership is required for Safari Park entry. Human beings have always been fascinated with the mysteries of the subconscious and the visions that lurk beneath the surface of logic and reason. The Museum Studies class has curated an exhibition featuring 54 talented local artists whose work is inspired by dreams in all their forms. Join us for the reception on November 21 to participate in a thought-provoking interactive piece by artist group Gal Crew. "Dreamscape: Beyond the Veil" invites viewers to contemplate how dreams shape our understanding and experience of the world. Highlighting symbolic explorations of the natural and mythical, this exhibition promises a captivating encounter with the world of the unconscious. This intriguing and engaging exhibition was developed under the guidance of Professor Alessandra Moctezuma and Gallery Coordinator Jenny Armer.
