Join us for a weekly Carving Club at San Diego Craft Collective. Hone your wood carving skills in a supportive environment of fellow carvers. The Craft Collective offers carvers of varying skill levels a place to meet to create their own spoons or other carved items. Hand tools will be available for use during club meeting time. Carving Club is suitable for those who have completed the Introduction to spoon carving course, or have some previous carving experience. Purchase a full month of Monday evenings or drop-in at your convenience! We will supply materials and carving tools, but if you have your own, please bring them. Topics to be covered include the differences between pine needle types, preparing the needles, waxed Irish linen, basket centers, embellishing your basket, and how to start and how to finish your basket. Students have the option to weave a basket, a pendant, or an ornament. Basket Weaving is a wonderful way to recycle from nature and is also a meditative activity. No experience necessary.
