With a little something for everyone, The Rolando Street Fair features 5 local bands including national headliner and longtime San Diego favorite Buck-O-Nine, with Emcee for the day, local music guru, Tim Pyles. Shop over 100 vendors, artists and makers, enjoy a variety of food options including the local craft Beer Garden, and entertainment for ages from tiny to teen in the $5 play-all-day kids zone - featuring a rock climbing wall, inflatables and more.

Our gallery will host the winners of our 2022 juried exhibition, (S)LIGHT OF HAND. Juror Christina Z Anderson, a well respected author, teacher, and maker of Alternative Process photographs chose the work of Marek Matusz of Houston Texas and his four-color gum prints of boldly colored flower still lifes; Director Donna Cosentino selected the quiet Cyanotype still life work of Lou McCorkle from San Francisco. Although they use similar materials, the engaging photographs of these two artists contrast greatly in subject and in use of color palette. The opening will be a celebration with both photographers attending. Reception hours are Saturday, February 11 from 5-8 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available nearby. Calling all live music fans! Veteran tour director Paul “Skip” Rickert will discuss all aspects of conceptualizing and creating a live music tour in the rock and roll industry. Skip has been a tour director for decades working with well-known bands and artists such as Santana, Barbara Streisand, Backstreet Boys, Guns N' Roses, Ice Cube, ZZ-Top, Korn, Paris Hilton and more. Skip will explain in detail what a typical day is like, from beginning to end, and will discuss the marketing and the “behind the scenes” strategies and knowledge he has practiced in his years of experience staging live music events. “My dear brother / friend (Skip) is a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. The Villalobos Brothers have been acclaimed as one of today’s leading contemporary Mexican ensembles. The ensemble’s virtuosic performances delivered with brilliance, combined with a message of love, brotherhood, and social justice, have delighted audiences around the world. Co-hosted by the Theatre Organ Society of San Diego Walter Strony was born and raised in Chicago where he began his musical education at the age of seven under the mentorship of the famous Chicago organist Al Melgard. As one of the most sought-after organists in America, Walter Strony has performed concerts all throughout the United States as well as internationally in Japan, Australia, England, and Canada. He is the only living musician to win "Organist of the Year" by the American Theatre Organ Society on two separate occasions. Walt has performed with a variety of finely established symphony's including the Calgary Symphony, the Allentown Symphony, and the El Paso Symphony. He is widely applauded for recording over 30 albums; his first CD “Pheonix” being the only album to be rated 10/10 by the prestigious CD Review. Walt took his career a step further by publishing "The Secrets of Theatre Organ Registration". Additionally, he has distinguished himself through his services as a pipe and digital organ consultant-tonal finisher; even working as a consultant for the fourth largest theatre pipe organ in the world, the 4/60 Wurlitzer in the Aveni Music Room in Gates Mills, Ohio. In his spare time, Walt works on the restoration of his mid-century Las Vegas home and enjoys traveling, fine dining, and collecting Art Deco items.

Visual artist Melanie Taylor will open a solo exhibition of new works at Bread and Salt, "Terrain," featuring works on paper and paintings. Taylor's atmospheric and evocative works center on natural spaces, with trees and plantlife that evoke more movement and urgency than any sort of peaceful landscape painting. Her paintings are vividly colored, though her drawings tend to be monochromatic. On view in the main gallery, with an opening reception from 5-8 p.m. on July 9, 2022. Note: closing date is TBA.
