DMICS 2023 will conclude with a night of opera and a celebration of the human voice. One of the unique aspects of DMICS is our opera workshop program, in which composers are invited to work with a collection of some of Southern California's top vocal artists to develop and present new operatic works together. This season we will hear the continuation of Polina Nazaykinskaya's major opera-in-progress, "Tear Down This Wall," a comedic scene from Jordan Kuspa's "The Importance of Being Earnest," and several vocal works by composers with local ties to San Diego: Texu Kim, Michael Remson, and Joseph Sowa. This is a rare opportunity to hear new works in their infancy, as our composer/performer teams work to hone their creative vision together and create new and powerful operas destined for grand stages in the future. UHCDC has hosted the annual Summer Concerts at Trolley Barn Park for 24 years.
