Virtuoso organist Jonas Nordwall performs popular standards on the Theatre Organ Society’s 4-manual, 24-rank “mighty Wurlitzer.” Nordwall is equally skilled in presenting both classical and popular music concerts. This concert will be a showcase of the Great American Songbook. The American Theatre Organ Society named Jonas Nordwall its Organist of the Year in 1987. He has served since 1971 as organist at the First United Methodist Church of Portland, Oregon, where he is Artistic Director of Music. He led the organist staff for ten years at Portland’s Organ Grinder Pizza restaurant and is the organist for the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. The Album and “How Do I” were nominated for Best Recording and Best Pop Song at San Diego Music Awards 2021 & 2022, respectively. “Southern Winds” earned Best Music Video at Dublin Web Fest. She began her songwriting days in San Diego during college, with three previous albums recorded and produced by Aaron Bowen. She has a large body of work and subcribers on her YouTube Channel, Luieland (29K subs), and continues to explore soundscapes with a cult following. A new cultural tradition is coming to East County! On Saturday, June 7, 2025, Downtown El Cajon will debut Artivál, East San Diego County’s first-ever arts festival. The free, open-air celebration brings together local creatives, musicians, food and drink vendors, and the community to highlight the city’s cultural identity. Held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the heart of Downtown El Cajon at Main & Magnolia, the free festival kicks off the summer season with a vibrant showcase of more than 50 artists and makers, interactive installations, live music, and gourmet food trucks. For those 21 and up, East County Arts Association has curated a ticketed Wine & Beer Garden experience that adds an elevated experience with tastings from local wineries, craft brew, and beverage brands. Artivál’s mission is clear – to transform Downtown El Cajon’s public spaces into a living canvas, spark cultural dialogue, and create lasting access to the arts in a part of San Diego that’s long been underserved by creative programming.
