  • Forever Balboa Park offers thematic park tours that focus on the park’s unique biodiversity and highlight the park’s horticultural wonders on the second Saturday of each month. Led by park volunteer and horticultural enthusiast Bill Edwards, the free tours leave from the Visitors Center at 10:00 a.m. Balboa Park features numerous trees from around the world that have monument status in the State of California. These “Guinness Book of Record Flora” are frequently noted on the internet and on various lists of amazing trees. The tour will point out their unusual features and provide background on their uses in the places where they originated around the globe. The entire garden is nicely shaded by a variety of trees from around the world, including the massive fig tree towering over one of the most photographed areas in the park.
