  • Surfing Madonna Oceans Project is pleased to present “Save the Ocean” a juried regional show about our beautiful, fragile and fascinating world. 60+ artists from across California will be selected to showcase their work on the environmental theme during the month of October 2023 with the reception on Saturday October 14, 2023. Artists and Poets will be awarded with cash prizes for their exceptional work. The show will host all mediums of wall art including: painting, fabric, collage, assemblage and photography. The show will be juried by Cathy Carey, Cheryl Ehlers and Mike Redman. There will be art and poetry awards and poetry readings at the reception on Saturday October 14, 2023 from 4 - 6 p.m. Artists may enter up to 3 entries for $30. ALL work must be original, No Giclees.   • Join us for a weekly Carving Club at San Diego Craft Collective. Hone your wood carving skills in a supportive environment of fellow carvers. The Craft Collective offers carvers of varying skill levels a place to meet to create their own spoons or other carved items. Hand tools will be available for use during club meeting time. Carving Club is suitable for those who have completed the Introduction to spoon carving course, or have some previous carving experience. Purchase a full month of Monday evenings or drop-in at your convenience! We will supply materials and carving tools, but if you have your own, please bring them. If you’d like to purchase or bring your own tools, the following tools are what the instructor recommends for carving a simple spoon: -1” #5 sweep gouge -1.5” #3 sweep gouge -1/2” #8 sweep gouge -straight carving knife -slightly curved carving knife Ages 14+ welcome.
