In the Gaslamp, Peanuts will be setting up camp at 200 J. Street, Suite 105 for a "Camp Snoopy" and “Beagle Scouts” pop-up. Attendees will find plenty of activities, with bird spotting (how many Woodstocks and his fellow Beagle Scout bird friends can you spot?), learning how to read a Peanuts-themed compass, and a writing-letters home station (“Send cookies!”). The offsite will also feature merch, including an adorable Woodstock Youtooz plush, Pintrill pins of Snoopy and the Beagle Scouts; iron-on merit badges; a Snoopy canteen; a compass; a burritote (for keeping your burrito warm, of course!). And with prices ranging from $10 to $25, you can snag what you want while still saving some pennies for the booth merchandise. The pop-up will be open Thursday, July 20 – Sunday, July 23 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily. On the show floor of the Convention Center, you’ll find Peanuts at Booth #1635, where you’ll be a happy camper to discover Snoopy himself, making in-person appearances throughout the con.   • Learn Plain Weave, Clasped Weft & Hemstitching on a Rigid Heddle Loom Select a date from the drop-down menu. Have you wanted to dive into the mindful, rhythmic, magic of weaving? In this rigid heddle loom workshop, students will learn to weave their own unique handwoven fabric in both plain weave (a classic, simple pattern) and clasped weft (where two wefts interconnect, creating unique patterns). Each student will learn the basics of how the loom works, a variety of simple weaving techniques, plain weave, clasped weft weaving, and finally, hemstitching for a finished piece. Students will weave a length of handwoven fabric of their choosing using the techniques in-class. Looms will be pre-warped in this class and students will weave together on Ashford Looms with 100% cotton fiber for a fiber-friendly afternoon. Beginners, as well as those with weaving experience are welcome. No experience necessary.   • The Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is proud to host the "Know Your Rights Symposium", aimed at educating women about their legal rights. This event will feature expert speakers from legal service providers who will delve into the critical topics of employment, housing, healthcare and immigration. The no-cost symposium is open to women and girls throughout San Diego County. It will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Southeastern Live Well Center – Tubman Chavez Center. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Parking is available at no cost in the adjacent garage on Market Street. Anyone interested in attending the Know "Your Rights Symposium" is invited to register to secure a seat and request space-limited child care or translation/interpretation services.
