Upcycle Your Own Item! Learn to Carve & Block Print! Choose from upcoming dates: Thursday, March 6, 6-8 p.m. -or- Thursday, May 1, 6-8 p.m. Have you ever wanted to print your own designs on shirts and bags?! In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the art of relief printing! Students will learn to design and carve their own linoleum stamp and block print an image onto fabric. We invite you to upcycle fabric from your own wardrobe or home for this class, so grab a well-loved favorite item or something that could use a fun refresh and begin imagining some fun designs you might carve and print! Because this class focuses on upcycling, please bring your own fabric to block print on. This can be clothing, a tote bag or something else. You may bring more than one item and the instructor can help you choose which to print on in class. We recommend you avoid fabrics that are especially thin, like satins and silks. All other tools and materials needed for this class will be supplied for use. Create your own handmade ceramic pottery! Mondays, March 3, 10, 17, 24 & April 7, from 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. In this 5-week class, instructor Lydia Kardos will teach the basics of handbuilding to create functional and sculptural ceramics. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with glazes. Students will complete various projects throughout the course, learning the basics of clay materials and handbuilding — skills necessary to work independently in open studio. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors. All materials provided. For 6-8 year olds: Campers will create mixed media drawings and paintings inspired by Spring. What will kids learn with San Diego Craft Collective? For 6-8 year olds: Campers will explore Spring-inspired crafts, blending skills and techniques across mediums. With an emphasis on woodworking, campers will create a fun, high-quality craft to take home! For 9-12 year olds: Campers will learn about game making and pinball machine building! Explore clay surface design techniques — Sgraffito & Stencils! Tuesdays, April 15, 22, 29, May 6 & 20 From 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes and slips. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course while applying handmade stencils and layering techniques with colorful patterns as well textured colorful designs using the sgraffito technique. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. All materials provided.
