5 Tuesdays from 6 – 8 p.m. Sept 10, 17, 24, Oct 1 & 15 In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes and slips. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course while applying handmade stencils and layering techniques with colorful patterns as well textured colorful designs using the sgraffito technique. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. All materials provided. Immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of Southern California as we paint “City Sunset”. This is a 2-hour class on 16×20 canvas. Nova Kombucha is a 21-and-up venue located along downtown Ocean Beach’s city strip. There are lots of restaurants and stores within walking distance. Nova does not serve food at this location. You do have the option to bring food with you! There are plenty of food joints along the strip where you can pick up a to-go order. There is also a Target right across the street where you can pick up some snacks. Enjoy the wide variety of Nova Kombucha’s hard kombucha on tap during the event! All supplies are provided and step-by-step instructions are given by local artists for you to create a masterpiece! Make sure to show up 15 minutes in advance for parking. 4 Wednesdays each month from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Ages 9-12 years welcome! This month-long series is full of hands-on, engaging crafts using STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics). We teach hand tool skills to this age group using safe materials and practices. Each project builds on craftsmanship, dexterity and material exploration. Students will get acquainted with various woodworking tools and techniques and will be guided through a series of exercises that exercise hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, and creativity. Students will make at least one fun, high-quality project to take home over the course of the series. All materials included.
