  • A Turkey Wing hand broom is an epic example of Appalachian folk art. It could be considered a functional tool or a decorated art piece. These brooms are made with natural broomcorn. Instructor AB will teach you the traditional techniques for binding and shaping the broomcorn, which is made from sorghum, to create a fun and unique experience…others call it a spiritual occurrence.   • The seasons are changing, and it’s a beautiful time of year to celebrate by creating whimsical fused glass art for your garden or windows! Your bright and cheerful sun catchers and garden sticks will make your garden, indoor potted plants, or windows sparkle! Instructor Suzanne Balestri will guide you in glass cutting techniques an design considerations to create your own artful creations to compliment your garden or to display in a sunny window. You will also receive two instructional videos a few days before the workshop so you’ll have a head start on what to expect. Students can make up to 3 pieces measuring approximately 1.5” x 11” each. All glass art will be kiln-fired after class and ready for pick up at the Craft Collective approximately one week after class. All materials are included, including 2 pre-class video instructions, and materials and firing for 3 glass pieces. Additional pieces can be made in class for $5 each (payable with cash in class). Vocal Highlights: ● César Andrés Parreño: This captivating tenor, attending Juilliard school of Music, the first and only Ecuadorian to attend the prestigious school, will grace the stage with his mesmerizing voice, praised by the Wall Street Journal and Opera Today. He's also a 2023 Duncan Williams Voice Competition winner (Emerging Artist). ● Becca Ung: SanDiego's own mezzo-soprano returns, having impressed audiences with her beautiful voice in "Romance of the Western Chamber." as Lady Tsui. She will perform two pieces, including the beloved "La Serenata," accompanied by her father, Rev. Tang, on violin. Instrumental Delights: ● Instrument Trio: Experience the masterful sounds of Daniel Grave (cello), Elena Yarritu (flute), and ChoHyun Park (piano). These accomplished local musicians and educators will treat you to their artistry. ● Chinese Instrument Duos: Immerse yourself inthe unique sounds of Weiping Wang on Yangqin (Chinese dulcimer) and Hao Wen on Guzheng. ● Returning Veterans: Violinist Filip Pogady and saxophonist Todd Rewoldt bring their passion and expertise back to the stage, ready to enthrall the audience. Grand Finale: Carmen Extravaganza Don't miss our exciting finale! Be captivated by César's rendition of the famed "Flower Song" from Carmen, followed by Becca's powerful "Habanera," accompanied by the Chinese Choral Society. To conclude, Filip and Todd will present a unique interpretation of "Carmen Fantasy" on violin and saxophone, joined by phenomenon pianists, Lesi Mei and Cho-Hyun Park.
