The Library's Autumn Concert Series takes place on Fridays from September 6 to October 25. Each concert will begin at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the performance. Our first performance of the series features the Camarada Tango Quartet, live before their second tour in Argentina. The mission of CAMARADA is to elevate and enrich the San Diego community and beyond by presenting phenomenal chamber music concerts, while engaging diverse audiences through visionary and educational programming, featuring living composers, commissioning new music, and igniting a powerful connection between the audience, artists and music. Camarada is dedicated to presenting invigorating performances of musical masterworks. Established in 1994, Camarada shares the joy of chamber music by pairing performers of the highest caliber with intimate spaces throughout San Diego. Original founders Beth Ross Buckley, Ann Chase, and Mary Barranger had a vision of concert experiences that are inviting and engaging for audiences. In 2008 Dana Burnett joined Beth Ross Buckley as Co-Artistic Director continuing this tradition. The House of Pacific Relations will present its 40th Annual Ethnic Food Fair, taking place at The International Cottages in Balboa Park, 2191 Pan American W Rd, San Diego, CA 92101, Sunday, May 7, 2023, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. "The Ethnic Food Fair is an awesome annual event for families and more, which is why the 40th Anniversary is so exciting,” said Mike Salazar, Member of the USA, House of Pacific Relations. “Each year, it’s great to see the unique entertainers and cuisines from so many countries to try and enjoy, all in one place.” The Ethnic Food Fair will feature multicultural live performances, and will offer locals and visitors an opportunity to explore and taste a variety of food from 31 historic international cottages. The actual number of EFF participants varies from year to year. Guests are able to purchase delectable ethnic dishes and treats, which support each of the non-profit cottages, and they will have an opportunity to interact with volunteers who proudly showcase culture, education, travel ideas, crafts and volunteerism. The 14th annual GOVX San Diego Half Marathon takes runners through five miles of waterfront, four historic communities, three parks, two miles of downtown streets, and finishes in the historic Gaslamp Quarter. The 5K is a flat and fast course all in downtown San Diego. Registration is now open and thousands of runners from all around the nation and the world are expected to participate in this San Diego running tradition. The GOVX San Diego Half Marathon and 5K is a part of In Motion Events’ San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown race series, which also includes the Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K, and the America’s Finest City Half Marathon and 5K. This trio offers a variety of courses and scenery throughout San Diego, providing athletes with a fun and unique running experience in distinct parts of the city and county. Athletes who participate in each race in the same calendar year, no matter the distance they participate in, will be awarded a San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown medal to celebrate their accomplishment of completing the race series. Runners simply register for all three events separately, no additional registration or fee is required to qualify for the San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown finisher award. They provide enhanced equipment, training, technology, and community education resources ensuring that the men and women of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department are better equipped to protect the residents, property, and environment of San Diego and the surrounding region.
