This eagerly awaited event promises an exhilarating Euro-style cycling spectacle, set to be a highlight for cyclists, beer enthusiasts, waffle lovers, and spectators looking to enjoy the food and cycling action. Enjoy shopping at over 50 vendors along with a variety of other booths from local family-owned businesses. The event is sure to be loaded with family fun, food, and craft beer creating a dynamic space for all San Diegans and visitors to enjoy. The excitement begins on Saturday, April 27, with the BWR Unroad Expo at North City from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Race day, April 28, begins with a 5:00 a.m. Belgian Waffle feast for the riders, and the races kick off at 7:00 a.m., followed by a Belgian Waffle feast for spectators and the public featuring freshly made waffles and a selection of Belgian ales from the Lost Abbey and Draft Republic. Lucas Smith, an artist and resident of Mission Valley, San Diego, California, is making his solo exhibition debut with “Minimal Designs & Organic Shapes” at Gallery 21, Spanish Village Art Center in April. Relocating from the Midwest in 2021, Lucas brings a fresh vision to abstractionism inspired by exploration of America’s Finest City. This contemporary artist is not afraid to use color and showcase his personality through his imagination and creativity. Smith’s palette choices are bold & vibrant. His artwork is a series of layers, each with their own unique significance. Lucas invites his viewers in, not holding back, taking them on a journey through is artwork. Each piece tells a story and seeks to engage with the viewer not only to inspire but to soothe the mind. Lucas is an award-winning artist with work juried into galleries across San Diego County the past year including, Gallery 21 at Spanish Village Art Center, Ashton Art Gallery, San Diego Watercolor Society, North Coastal Art Gallery, Covet Gallery, and OMA Art Alliance. He is also a resident artist in Studio 12 at Ashton Art Gallery at Art on 30th. Russian born artist Evgeniya Golik’s highly detailed, pop-surrealist work easily activates the imagination of viewers. Her paintings and drawings are like doors to a mystical realm containing a myriad of beautiful human faces and fantastical creatures who express their secrets and stories through symbolic language. Her penchant for hatch shading and meticulously rendered hair catches the eye just as much as the unusual subject matter depicted. Introduced to esoteric subject matter at a young age by her paternal grandmother, she explores subjects such as medicinal plants, natural remedies, astrology, and fortune telling in her work.
