Related event: Free Third Thursday, May 16. Taking the 1990s as its cultural backdrop, Forecast Form: Art in the Caribbean Diaspora, 1990s–Today is the first major group exhibition in the United States to envision a new approach to contemporary art in the Caribbean diaspora, foregrounding forms that reveal new modes of thinking about identity and place. Over 20 artists are featured in this exhibition, many of whom live in the Caribbean or are of Caribbean heritage. We will make masks inspired by Gerald Clarke, scarves inspired by Yinka Shonibare, and mixed media art jewelry inspired by artists in our featured exhibition, Forecast Form: Art in the Caribbean Diaspora, 1990s–Today. Learn how contemporary artists combine materials and ideas to make exciting new art. Play with different styles as you go on an adventure through the Museum. Back and better than never! Take a break from the hustle of poetry month and enjoy an evening of low-brow, overly-contrived, and badly constructed poetry! Win unforgettable prizes for your lack of eloquence or surprise your audience with something approaching a cohesive thought! Poets and non-poets of all skill levels are welcome. We will start with some workshopping, then move to an open mic section. Prizes will be given throughout the program. Light refreshments will be provided.

Separated from his mother, a young refugee called Anon journeys through the United States, ecountering a wide variety of people—some kind, some dangerous and cruel—as he searches for his family. Naomi Iizuka's beautiful and brutal play Anon(ymous), a powerful retelling of Homer's epic Odyssey, explores ancient themes of identity, coming-of-age, and the shifting nature of home in the face of displacement. Prints and Pinot is fine art and wine appreciation at its best. We will be pairing delicious wine with USD’s impressive print collection for an evening of interactive art, opinionated gallery tours, and other forms of playful connoisseurship. Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio wines are on the tasting menu for those twenty-one and older. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served. Space is limited.

PATH began operating in San Diego in 2013 with the opening of Connections Housing, an integrated service and residential community in Downtown.
