For over a decade, Castellanos has been a member of The Clayton Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, performing around the world and recording with the acclaimed big band. Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, March 9th. About the Artists: Anna Casser (1943- ) Born in Verona, Italy, Anna Caser was educated at the Fine Arts School in Genoa, Italy. Her works can be seen in Italy, Europe, UAE, USA and Canada at important private and public collections. Inspired by Paul Klee, Caser covers her canvasses in loose washes of intense color on a ground of Venetian plaster made from marble dust obtained from local Italian quarries. Over these abstractions, Caser inscribes sketchy playful drawings through the paint and stucco. Willy Heeks, born in 1951, has gained a national reputation, exhibiting in New York, Los Angeles, and throughout the United States. He received his BFA from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston in 1973, attended the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program that same year and in 1977 he received his MFA from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA. His work has been acquired by the Peabody-in-Essex Museum (Salem, MA), Museum of Contemporary Art, (Detroit, MI), and the Cleveland Museum of Art (Cleveland, OH). His work is also in the collections of the Portland Art Museum (Portland, OR), Brooklyn Museum of Art (New York, NY), Corcoran Gallery of Art (Washington, DC), Museum of Modern Art (New York, NY) and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (San Francisco, CA). This certification ensures a high quality and fresh produce is brought to the market and allows the community to experience a diverse market with the opportunity to meet the farmers and learn how their food supply is produced. This eclectic open-air market and relaxed feel has made the Ocean Beach Certified Farmers Market located in the heart of Ocean Beach the place to be on Wednesday evenings for decades. The market is located on the 4900 block of Newport Avenue. Every Wednesday you will find Farmers Market favorites such as fresh flowers, plants, local produce, freshly baked breads, desserts, kombucha, green juice, honey, hot food, and much more. You will find our Farmer's Market team at the Information booth in the center of the market on the southside of the street. The OBMA team enjoys answering questions about the community and local merchants. Mama’s Kitchen is hosting its 33rd annual Mama’s Day fundraiser, a culinary event featuring San Diego’s best chefs, restaurants, catering companies, hotels, and more, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront on Friday, May 3, at 5:30 p.m. The event features unlimited tasting from participating culinary partners. Attendees will also be treated to live entertainment from local artists and musicians, pop-up booths from retailers, a silent auction, and a photo booth to commemorate the evening. All proceeds from Mama’s Day are funneled directly to the non-profit’s delivery services, allowing for more critically ill San Diegans to receive free medically-tailored meal deliveries. Occupying a modest 12 acres out of a sprawling 700-acre site, DCPP has been a cornerstone of reliable and clean energy production since it began operations in 1985. Its two advanced Westinghouse Pressurized Water Reactors, with licenses extending through 2024 and 2025, produce a staggering 18,000 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. This substantial output provides power to over three million people in Northern and Central California, contributing nearly 10% to the state's energy portfolio and fulfilling 20% of PG&E's service area demand. The plant's inception in 1963 marked the beginning of a visionary project by PG&E, initially planned for Nipomo Dunes but later relocated to Diablo Canyon in 1965 after thoughtful consultations with environmental groups. Despite facing extensive reviews and debates over safety and environmental implications, the project exemplified resilience and dedication to safety, leading to the successful commissioning of Unit 1 in 1985 and Unit 2 in 1987. In 2016, PG&E, in a decision that has been met with disappointment by advocates of clean nuclear energy, announced plans to decommission the DCPP reactors by 2024 and 2025. This announcement, later confirmed by the CPUC in 2018, signals the end of an era for nuclear power in California, underscoring the need for continued advocacy and support for nuclear energy as a critical component of a sustainable and reliable energy future.
