  • Visiting Artist Shareout: Melanie Taing Join us on Saturday, July 11 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Revision La Mesa for an afternoon of storytelling, creativity, and community with visiting artist Melanie Taing (@olliepotstudios). Melanie's work explores personal and generational healing through clay, drawing on her Cambodian, Thai, and Chinese American heritage, tea culture, herbalism, and the belief that art and community can be powerful tools for connection and care. After developing chronic migraines and other disabling health conditions in 2022, Melanie found healing and resilience through Traditional Chinese Medicine, tea-making, and ceramics, with pottery becoming a space for creativity, reflection, and restoration. From 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., Melanie will share stories about her artistic practice, cultural heritage, disability journey, and the ways creativity, community, and care have shaped her work. From 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., participants are invited to create their own ceramic coasters inspired by Melanie's signature vinyl resist technique, which she uses throughout her work, including pieces from her Amrita collection and playful pop-culture-inspired ceramics. - Open to all - Drop-in, no RSVP required - Free to try, $10 to have your piece fired At Revision, our goal is to connect and center disabled artists through storytelling, community building, and creative practice. We're honored to welcome Melanie and celebrate the ways art can help us heal, connect, and imagine new possibilities together. • The Saps at Sea honor Oliver "Babe" Hardy with a fun movie program. Our cartoon is "Coo-Coo Nut Grove" (1936). Next is another fun "Fitzpatrick's Travel Talks: Old New Orleans" (1940). In "That's My Wife" (1929), Ollie hopes to get an inheritance from his rich uncle. But, he must prove he is happily married... and his wife just left him. Stan is pressed into pretending to be the wife. Russ Peck, resident Saps AV expert, will provide live piano music! "County Hospital" (1932) is a fan favorite. Ollie is in the hospital. Stan brings hard boiled eggs and nuts. And lots of laughter for us. After intermission, we'll show the rarely-seen "Four Clowns" (1970). This documentary features film clips of Buster Keaton, Charley Chase, and of course our two favorite comedians! Visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/1006065675543920/

  • San Diego Black Pride 2026 "Unbound and Unlimited" Join us for San Diego Black Pride 2026, a bold reimagining of what Black Pride can be when we refuse limits and center possibility. Under the theme "Unbound and Unlimited," this year’s celebration is a two day experience grounded in freedom of expression, lineage, imagination, and collective care. UNBOUND speaks to releasing ourselves from boxes, from a single narrative of Black queerness, from hierarchies of identity or expression. UNLIMITED honors abundance, intergenerational wisdom, and futuristic Black queer joy. Every element of this weekend is intentionally designed as a living village where joy, art, history, and community care coexist. This is not just a celebration, it is a declaration. A space curated by us and for us, rooted in pleasure as resistance and joy as strategy.
