This Independence Day, one of Downtown San Diego's most sought-after rooftop destinations is hosting an all-day celebration in the sky. On Saturday, July 4, Andaz San Diego will partner with Block Party and Happening Times to present a rooftop Fourth of July pool party featuring two stages, surprise musical performances, poolside cabanas, and panoramic views of the city skyline. Running from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., the 21+ event will culminate with front-row views of San Diego's fireworks display as the city celebrates both Independence Day and America's 250th birthday. Designed as an elevated alternative to traditional holiday festivities, the event invites guests to spend the day enjoying music, cocktails, rooftop vibes, the pool, and one of the best vantage points in Downtown San Diego. Attendees can expect a lineup of secret artists, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks. Following the rooftop celebration, guests can continue the festivities at the official after-party held inside the hotel, creating a full day-to-night experience in the heart of the city. The experiment first resulted in "Serpent’s Path," a dark gangland thriller with philosophical overtones. Obsessed with avenging his young daughter’s murder, yakuza subordinate Miyashita (Teruyuki Kagawa) recruits Nijima (Aikawa), a brilliant yet strangely detached math teacher, to help carry outcarry out a scheme to kidnap and torture the man allegedly responsible. But the plan goes awry when their target, Otsuki (Yurei Yanagi), fingers another mobster as the mastermind behind Miyashita’s tragedy. As the two partners ascend the yakuza chain of command in search of the true culprit, Miyashita and Nijima follow the cold, calculating logic of revenge, descending into a moral abyss from which they may never surface. Featuring Kurosawa’s patented long takes and his claustrophobic arrangement of space, "Serpent’s Path" is one of the legendary director’s most chilling investigations into the endless cycle of violence and the evil that lodges in every heart. Their sacrifice, courage, and service continue to inspire generations of first responders. Through this climb, we also recognize the sacrifices made by firefighters everywhere and reaffirm our commitment to supporting those who serve our communities. Funds raised will benefit FirefighterAid, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides charitable assistance to San Diego County firefighters and their families in times of crisis and promotes awareness of firefighter health and safety issues and the impacts they have on their families and communities. 25 years later, we climb to ensure their legacy lives on and that we never forget.
