From Noon to 4 p.m., the streets surrounding the iconic Davis-Horton House at 4th and Island Avenue will transport visitors to a bygone era, filled with historic fun, hands-on learning, and memorable adventures for the entire family. Now in its milestone 25th year, Fall Back Festival has become a beloved San Diego tradition—where families gather to experience old-fashioned amusements, cultural demonstrations, and timeless community spirit. As the clocks "fall back," so does the Gaslamp Quarter, offering an immersive afternoon where history truly comes to life. The City of Chula Vista, in collaboration with the South Bay Sustainable Communities Network, is issuing a community-wide call for volunteers to join the 22nd Annual Beautify Chula Vista Day on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon. This much-anticipated neighborhood cleanup event aims to engage residents in hands-on beautification efforts across the city. In 2024, over 400 dedicated volunteers removed thousands of pounds of litter and graffiti, making a visible and lasting impact on Chula Vista’s neighborhoods, creeks, and canyons. Now in its 22nd year, Beautify Chula Vista Day continues this powerful tradition of civic engagement and environmental stewardship. Volunteers can choose to begin their day at either Loma Verde Community Center, located at 1420 Loma Lane, or Chula Vista City Hall, located at 276 Fourth Avenue. Upon arrival, participants will check in with event leads, complete a safety orientation, and receive cleanup supplies and instructions for the day’s efforts. All volunteers must register in advance at www.BeautifyChulaVista.org. Participants are asked to provide their own transportation and to wear appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. They should also bring work gloves, a refillable water bottle, and any snacks or lunch they may need. This event also qualifies for student community service hours. With more than 400 volunteers needed, the event will focus on removing graffiti, collecting litter, and restoring the visual appeal of streets, parks, and public spaces. This is a prime opportunity for residents, families, students, and local organizations to come together, give back, and take pride in their community. The annual Seven Oaks Holiday Craft Fair at the Seven Oaks Community Center happens Saturday, Dec. 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 16789 Bernardo Oaks Dr. in Rancho Bernardo (one mile east of I-15). Holiday shoppers will find an enormous selection of affordable, handmade gifts from more than 60 local makers. Items include sewn goods, photography, woodworking, ceramics, jewelry, plants and planters, edible gifts and more. The fair is free with free parking and is open to the public. Families are welcome, but please leave pets at home. Come out and finish your holiday shopping while supporting local artists and artisans.

Famous for performing directly from historical notation and around a single music stand—as was customary during the Renaissance—Cappella Pratensis, under the direction of Tim Braithwaite, returns with a program centered on Dufay’s Missa Aurea for the Annunciation. This exquisite mass will be performed alongside the plainchant propers for the feast of the Annunciation and Marian motets by Dufay’s younger contemporary, Antoine Busnoys.
