The Scarlet Pimpernel is a swashbuckling action/adventure musical, based on Baroness Orczy’s famous 20th-century novel about the French Revolution and the battle for Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. Dragon Ball has announced their return to San Diego Comic-Con. They’ll be heading back to the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina’s Terrace., their home for several years now, for Wednesday, July 19 – Sunday, July 23, with a “huge special Dragon Ball outdoor booth.” In previous years, Bandai Namco and Toei Animation have brought fans exciting Dragon Ball offerings both on the floor and off, with giveaways, huge statues, product displays, game experiences, and more. Instructor Tracey Herriot will introduce students to skills that can be used in all of your future sewing projects. New sewing techniques will be taught each week and when to use them. Sewing techniques include: installing zippers, hemming pants, pockets, Hong Kong seams, how to sew a sleeve (set a sleeve) using different textiles, and much more! Build your own sewing portfolio! All materials provided. Note: there is a material fee for this course. No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome!

Join instructor Suzanne Balestri to learn the basics of Fused Glass and create your own glass jewelry to keep for yourself or give as a gift. This fun workshop offers a perfect introduction to Kiln-Formed (fused) glass for beginners, and allows those who have worked with glass before to hone their abilities and finesse their skills. You will learn how fused glass differs from other forms of art glass, how to use the various tools involved in creating glass art, and how to cut and grind the glass you will be using in your wearable art project. Using a colorful array of glass and pre-fired adornments, you’ll construct abstract or representational designs to be fashioned into earrings, pendants, rings, cuff links, even belt buckles! Each student will have plenty of space in the kiln for several items! Your pieces will be fired in a glass kiln to completely fuse each design into one solid piece, and will be ready for you to pick up the following week. Workshop fee includes pre-workshop instructional videos, all glass, equipment, and kiln firing of several pieces. An Additional Supply Fee of $10 (cash only) is due to instructor at the workshop. It includes pre-fused adornments plus jewelry findings for up to 3 items (excluding leather for bracelets/belts). Additional findings, chains, cording, and leather for bracelets and belts will also be available for cash purchase. This workshop is recommended for all skill levels – ages 13 and up. Beginners welcome!

Clay Open Studio is an opportunity for students to practice the clay skills they have already learned in our clay classes. Students have the chance to work in our studio using either hand building techniques or working on a pottery wheel. This is not an instructional class. There will be no instructor. By signing up for Clay Open Studio, you will receive 1/2 a bag of clay, 1 bisque fire, 1 glaze fire, and use of our glazes. We work with midfire clay. No outside clay is allowed (because disastrous things can happen in the kilns!) Since there is no instruction in Open Studio, some clay experience is necessary. You must have taken one of our clay courses to participate, or have clay experience from elsewhere. If you are throwing work on the wheel, we allow you to come in on the Monday following the first Clay Open Studio date to trim your work.
