  • Join Us for a Community Clean-Up in Del Mar! The Del Mar Village Association (DMVA) invites you to take part in our “Keep Del Mar Green” community clean-up event! Together, we’ll protect our beautiful coastline, support sustainability, and make a lasting impact on our environment. We'll meet at the 17th Street Del Mar Lifeguard Station before spreading out across the beach, parks, and nearby streets to collect litter that would otherwise pollute our precious waterways. To make your efforts even more rewarding, the Del Mar Lifeguards will work with us to treat our volunteers to a delicious breakfast of eggs and pancakes. During the cleanup, we’ll use baskets from the Del Mar ShoreSaver Program—a pioneering environmental initiative led by DMVA in partnership with the City of Del Mar, EDCO, and Relic Coastal Collaborative—designed to keep our beaches pristine while promoting ecological health. We can’t wait to see you there—let’s keep Del Mar green! The Del Mar Village Association on Facebook / Instagram

  • Join the San Diego World Affairs Council for a special event featuring opening remarks from Ambassador Marc Knapper (Vietnam) and Ambassador Brian McFeeters (ret., Malaysia) as part of the US-ASEAN Business Council’s Ambassadors’ Tour. They will share timely insights on the evolving U.S.-ASEAN relationship and regional developments. The program will also feature a keynote address by UCSD Professor David G. Victor, who will examine the long-term global implications of recent shifts in U.S. climate policy under the Trump administration. A thought-provoking evening of diplomacy, policy, and dialogue. These are truly turbulent times…on an historic scale. Huge policy changes regarding US decarbonization, green energy investment, and global warming/climate research are being largely eclipsed in the media by tariff news and the geopolitical transformation of the global order being driven by the Trump 2.0 White House. Nevertheless, Trump 2.0 environmental policy changes are likely to be consequential – for the US and the planet. Those changes may also come to have geopolitical implications. New global leadership may emerge. Furthermore, some Trump 2.0 shifts seem likely to find ready audiences in other parts of the world. Drawing on his deep experience and awareness, David G. Victor will discuss the impacts and consequences of US policy changes toward global warming and decarbonization. Beyond discussing the impact of the of the first five months of Trump 2.0, David will step back and take the long view…across the arc of a decade or two – or three. What has happened…and where do we go from here? What will be the impact of the Trump tariffs? Will geo-engineering emerge as a tool for addressing climate change? Will new meaning be given to an old US Marine Corps proverb: “Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome”? Following Dr. Victor's presentation there will be ample time for audience questions. • Brainstory’s new album Sounds Good, simply put, lives up to its name. Based in L.A. but hailing from the Inland Empire's own Rialto, CA, two-thirds of Brainstory, Kevin and Tony Martin are brothers by blood, while Eric Hagstrom is a brother through their music and long term friendship. While the group's initial connection comes from the heady mixture of jazz-performance-focused music school and the grind of playing local shows, their bond has been strengthened through countless hours on the road touring and the making of two studio records—2019’s debut full-length, Buck, followed by 2021’s Ripe EP. "Being on the road, doing our own tours, and backing incredible people like Lady Wray, has sharpened our skills and really revved us up for this record," Kevin says. "It's been four years since our last full length record, and with everything that's happened since, it's like we've been catching up to ourselves." That's one way to describe change: catching up to oneself. Each member of Brainstory has gone through shifts, both personally and musically, and all of that thread through this record. Since they started the band they have constantly faced situations that forced them to rise to the occasion. They got signed to Big Crown Records, they stepped up their game. Covid happened, they learned to record themselves. They started touring a ton sharing the stage with the likes of Lady Wray and they got their live show super tight. All of this time spent grinding and growing has certainly paid off. The path to take their art to the next level is clearer than ever and once again, they are here for it. If there is one thing that is abundantly clear on this album, it’s that Brainstory leveled up.
