  • In an age of digital immediacy, what continues to draw us to books? Curt Sherman will share a selection of his one-of-a-kind artist books, alongside the sources that inspired them. Spanning topics from the history of the alphabet and "Katagami" (Japanese stencils) to Walt Whitman and the First World War, his works combine varied processes with text and poetry that reflect each theme. A former professor of design, interior design, and furniture design, Sherman taught for 35 years. He co-authored "Architecture and Interior Design: An Integrated History to the Present" (Prentice Hall, 2012), a standard text in the field. In retirement, he returned to an early interest in typography, studying at Bayside Press and the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library Print Studio.
