This is his passion project. Jazzgrass is an exciting band dedicated to toe-tappin’, accessible music, honoring the traditions of bluegrass, Appalachian music, Americana, and the jazz composers who have their ears attuned our rural homeland. Windscape, a woodwind quintet, will be performing at the Rancho Bernardo Library on Saturday June 29th at 2:30 p.m. Works include Barber's "Summer Music", Fine "Partita", Hindemith "Kleine Kammermusik" Windscape is part of the Finest City Musician's Alliance- a family of artists working together to produce unique content.Through artistic leadership, the organization unites the community with premier artistic performances, mentorship, and multi-disciplinary collaborations to create a more vibrant San Diego County. Windscape performs around San Diego County in small venues including library concerts, school assemblies, dessert and coffee date night concerts, art galleries, and other community spaces. The quintet boasts some of the finest players in FCMA.

About Steph Johnson Steph Johnson is an award-winning, multi-dimensional recording artist and activist whose music deftly blends jazz, soul, funk and blues. Through her 20-year music career, Steph has recorded five studio albums. Her latest album "So In Love", is a collection of Johnson's favorite jazz standards and ballads. The 10-track record features pianist Josh Nelson (Natalie Cole), guitarist Anthony Wilson (Diana Krall), trumpeter Chris Lawrence, bassist Rob Thorsen and drummer Richard Sellers. “With her recent release of 'So In Love,' Steph continues her spiral upward towards bright, musical horizons. LA Jazz Scene Growing up, Steph was influenced by her grandmother’s favorite singers: Ike and Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Stevie Wonder; and by the ’70s icons beloved by her mother, including James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. She discovered jazz through Miles Davis' classic album, ‘Kind of Blue’, which led her to the great female jazz vocalists: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughn. “Johnson’s core strength is as a communicator with rhythmic depth and smoky, pliant power…her sweet yearning vocal really soars." — Robert Bush, Jazz critic Johnson performs regularly throughout Southern California and the Western United States. She is currently working on new material for her next project. When she’s not working on music, Steph directs her creative energy towards social activism. In 2016 she co-founded Voices of Our City Choir, with fellow musician Nina Deering. What began as an organic collaboration between local musicians and people experiencing homelessness has grown into an internationally recognized performance ensemble and innovative nonprofit that uses music and arts to amplify the voices of people impacted by homelessness. On May 4, the plant and garden art sale is from Noon to 5 p.m. and the Flower Show is open from 2 to 5 p.m. On May 5, the show, boutique and sale are all open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features floral designs, horticulture, educational and photography exhibits and a chance to buy plants and garden art, rain or shine. Join in the joy of live, up-close storytelling--the original social media. Tellabration!™ is a worldwide synchronous celebration of storytelling. Our Ocean Beach storytelling concert reflects on the theme of "In a Grain of Sand". This phrase is parsed from a poem by William Blake--"To see the world in a grain of sand". Come hear members of Storytellers of San Diego interpret and expand on the theme with humor, empathy and pathos. Tales are personal, original, folkloric, literary. The storytellers are Marilyn McPhie, Jim Dieckmann, Emily Stamets, Patchwork Story Theatre (Patti Christensen and James Nelson-Lucas,) Carol Jaksa, JT Moring with guitar, Aunt Li-Anne, and David Schmidt. Pundemonium is back, pumpkin! And this month, we're getting spooky. San Diego's ONLY pun competition returns to the Finest City Improv stage on Friday, October 25, at 10 p.m.! Watch, laugh, groan, or JOIN word nerds from across the city in a battle to see who's the punniest of them all—and win a coveted Golden Nugget chicken trophy! Pundemonium! is a two-part event based on the format used by pun contests in cities nationwide: - In Part 1, Battle of the PUNdits, participants who have signed up in advance will deliver two-minute pun-filled speeches, and the audience will determine the winner.
