The Navy’s 38th Annual Bay Bridge Run/Walk is hosted by the Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Program. The unique 4-mile run/walk has a one-of-a-kind spectacular panoramic view as participants make their way to Coronado’s beautiful Tidelands Park from downtown San Diego over the Coronado Bay Bridge. During the finish line celebration, runners receive a Finisher’s medal, event T-shirt, and enjoy sponsor booths. Plus, all participants are eligible for drawing prizes and complimentary transportation back to downtown. This is a sanctioned USAT&F 4-mile course. Our start line is at One Park Blvd. at Harbor Dr. between the Hilton San Diego Bayfront and the San Diego Convention Center. The course travels south along Harbor Dr. to Cesar E. Chavez Pkwy. Participants head east to National Ave., then up and over the Coronado Bay Bridge. The race finishes in Coronado’s Tidelands Park. Expect flat streets, an incline up the bridge and a decline down the bridge. Walkers are encouraged to bring cameras to take some great photos of San Diego and Coronado from on top of the bridge! Baby strollers, wheelchairs and guide dogs are permitted. Skateboards, bikes, in-line skates, race wheelchairs and pets (with the exception of service animals) are prohibited. All participants must be on the bridge by 8:45 a.m., approximately 1 mile, to allow for the reopening of traffic lanes. The San Diego River Mouth is home to an abundance of native resident and migratory species who depend on the threatened habitats to rest, forage and live out their life cycles. Join the San Diego Bird Alliance and SDRPF to help restore this area by removing invasive plants that reduce the integrity of viable habitat for endangered species. Members of the SDRPF Education Department will be on hand to speak about the estuary and its importance to local birds and endangered wildlife, including the California Least Tern. We will be hand pulling weeds, removing trash and repairing any broken sections of fencing. All tools will be provided, but bring sun protection and layers for changeable weather. Here are a few tips to help you prepare for the event: Attire: Long Pants and closed-toe shoes are required Items to Bring: Reusable water bottle, hat, other forms of sun protection Weather: Light rain will not cancel the event For safety reasons, no pets are allowed at this event No experience necessary! Spring Harp Fest is more than just a music festival; it’s a celebration of the harmonica and its vibrant community. Every year, harmonica enthusiasts gather to enjoy a diverse lineup of performers, from local talents to renowned artists. The Spring Harp fest also extends beyond entertainment. As a non-profit event, we focus on supporting youth music programs in San Diego. Your donations help provide harmonica instruction and instruments to children, fostering the next generation of musicians. Join us in this unique experience where music meets community, and every note played supports a brighter future for harmonica music. The Spring Harp Fest is a family-friendly, outdoor event located at Harry Griffen Park in La Mesa, California. Although the event is free, there will be a $20 suggested donation requested upon entering the festival. A Museum on Wheels: The Office of Collecting & Design Hits the Road! The Office of Collecting & Design, an enchanting museum of lost and forgotten objects, is taking its beloved collection on tour! Known as a "nostalgia machine," this interactive traveling museum invites visitors to step inside a 42-foot wonderland of drawers, boxes, and cabinets filled with carefully curated curiosities. Guests can explore the space at their own pace or engage in hands-on experiences like a scavenger hunt or a flatlay photography session. Each stop on the tour features collaborations with local artists and creative spaces, ensuring a fresh and immersive experience in every city. The journey kicks off in San Diego with a special partnership between the Office and ArtReach San Diego. From April 17–19, the mobile museum will be open outside ArtReach’s Hillcrest studio, welcoming guests (adults only) during the nonprofit’s daily hours. Visitors can also enjoy Mini Visits during ArtReach’s 21+ Art Party on April 18 (tickets to the Art Party required), while families and young artists can participate in a specially designed workshop inside ArtReach’s studio on Saturday, April 19. One candy heiress, two bullets, and three suspects. Coronado rarely makes news for violent crime. But in the spring of 1975, World War II widow and retired librarian Ruth Quinn was murdered, execution-style, in her cottage. Her death sent a shock wave through the community. The granddaughter of Jujubes and Jujyfruits creator Henry Heide, Ruth was found fully clothed with her shoes on, in her bed, dead from two gunshot wounds. To this day, her murder has never been solved, but whispers about her brother, her son, and even a local petty thief still swirl. The Coronado Historical Association is proud to host Coronado author Taylor Baldwin Kiland as she sifts through the dirt for the facts about Ruth's life and her untimely end fifty years ago.
