The Seven Oaks Holiday Craft Fair -- held annually in Rancho Bernardo at the Seven Oaks Community Center -- is slated for Saturday, Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 16789 Bernardo Oaks Dr. (one mile east of I-15 in Rancho Bernardo). Holiday shoppers can expect to find an even greater selection of affordable gifts than in previous years from more than 50 local vendors of handmade artwork, crafts, jewelry, edible gifts and more. The Village Church Concert Series presents a captivating afternoon of music on Sunday, October 27 as Duo Alloro, a talented cello and guitar duo, fills the sanctuary with their breathtaking blend of melodies. You will hear pieces from composers including Boccherini, de Falla, Offenbach, and Piazzolla, each selected to highlight the rich, vocal-like quality of the cello and the melodic brilliance of the guitar. Duo Alloro features cellist Erica Erenyi and guitarist Fred Benedetti, local artists who are renowned throughout the San Diego music scene. There is no cost, but a free will offering will be taken. Join Solana Center for this FREE 2-hour workshop where you will get an introduction to using the bokashi method (the word “bokashi” is a Japanese term meaning fermented organic matter), as well as the basics of traditional backyard composting. The bokashi method involves using a particular group of bacteria that preserves your food scraps until you’re ready to compost them. Using trial-tested advice and demonstrations, our experienced educators will teach you all you need to know about incorporating bokashi into your backyard compost pile.
