The U.S. Navy has ordered all non-deployed aircraft units to conduct a one-day safety pause beginning Tuesday after multiple recent crashes in Southern California.

The Board of Supervisors Monday heard requests for improved child care and better trails during a brief session on the county's proposed $7.15 billion budget.

A wind advisory is in effect for parts of San Diego County until 10 p.m. Monday.

"We are asking San Diegans to take these steps now, so we can help avoid a more dire situation in the near future."

The NWS cautioned that the swelter would "significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working (outside) or participating in outdoor activities."

The new total case count includes 4,428 cases reported in the past three days.

Mayor Todd Gloria and City Council President Sean Elo-Rivera Wednesday announced an update to San Diego's climate action initiative.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
