Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Bonsall, Friday announced two additional San Diego-area families that were trapped in the Kabul region of Afghanistan have successfully been evacuated from that country.

Monday is the deadline to register to vote by mail in the Sept. 14 gubernatorial recall election, the San Diego Registrar of Voters said Friday in a reminder to residents.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
