The father of fallen Marine Lance Cpl. Benjamin Schmidt got an unusual but appreciated gift from Camp Pendleton last week. Schmidt's Marine brothers built an eleven-foot tall cross in Schmidt's memory, and sent it to San Antonio, where the Schmidt family lives.

The Marine Corps is investigating the death of Sgt. Camella M. Steedley, 31, who passed away in Afghanistan on October 3rd. Steedley lived in San Clemente and was based at Camp Pendleton.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Aaron A. Henderson died October 2 at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan - succumbing to wounds suffered from an IED blast on September 30. Henderson, 33, was a Green Beret assigned to Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
