Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 at 9 p.m. on KPBS TV. Saifullah and Ismail Haqmal are two brother interpreters who served alongside U.S. Forces in Afghanistan for over a decade. The film follows the brothers from their childhood growing up during the Russian/Afghan war, through the Taliban era, then the invasion by NATO forces after 9/11. When Robert deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 he worked with Saifullah and Ismail during that deployment and they all became close friends. After Robert's unit leaves Afghanistan the brothers become desperate to escape they turn to their American friends to petition Congress and help them escape the Taliban's rise to power.

Filmmaker Mark Pedri had never heard his grandfather Silvio’s story despite spending nearly every day together for 10 years. It wasn’t until after Silvio’s death that Mark found an archive of old photos, letters, and documents detailing Silvio’s journey as a Prisoner of War in World War II.
