In the 1950s and ’60s, an underground network of transgender women and cross-dressing men found refuge at a modest house in the Catskills region of New York. Known as Casa Susanna, the house provided a safe place to express their true selves and live for a few days as they had always dreamed—dressed as and living as women without fear of being incarcerated or institutionalized for their self-expression. -

In The American Run for the End of AIDS, Brent runs almost a marathon a day for 20 months straight. After enduring blisters, exhaustion, ignorance and fear, he returns home to a life of activism. Though the run finishes, Brent’s fight never stops. -

In the wake of recent Southern violence, "After Sherman" is a reclamation of Black life and space. -

Stream for free on Black Public Media’s YouTube Channel starting Monday, June 19 in honor of Juneteenth. Based on a true story and directed by Quincy Ledbetter, the film features acclaimed actors Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (THE CHI; "Farewell Amor"; THE LINCOLN LAWYER) and Zainab Jah ("Black Panther: Wakanda Forever"; HOMELAND; "Farewell Amor") as parents of a young boy who seeks to reject his Blackness after being traumatized by an earlier event. As his parents sit him down to speak with him about the world we live in, he and the audience are taken on a journey through the struggle for freedom by Black Americans.
