As searchers continue to look for victims in the deadly flash flooding in Texas, officials are answering questions about the weather forecasts ahead of and during the storm.

Forecasters say the storm system is expected to be at or near hurricane intensity as it makes landfall in the Leeward Islands on Friday. Up to 10 inches of rain and 3 feet of storm surge could follow.

Above average high temperatures for inland areas were expected through Thursday, as much as 15 to 20 degrees above average for the inland valleys.

High pressure to the north is likely to bring warming to San Diego County for Wednesday and Thursday with high temperatures in the valleys for Thursday in the mid 90s to around 100, the National Weather Service said Tuesday.

Friday should be mild, followed by a warming trend with high temperatures increasing to 5 to 10 degrees above normal on Sunday and Monday.

A return of onshore flow and a coastal eddy could deepen the marine layer with coastal low clouds spreading into portions of the inland valleys early Friday and across most of the valleys for early Saturday, the NWS said.

It was expected to be much cooler in inland San Diego County Wednesday with strong and gusty southwest to west winds in the mountains and deserts gradually diminishing during the afternoon.

Lidia was expected to rapidly weaken over the mountains and dissipate, but was still capable of soaking the region with heavy rain.

A heat advisory is in effect in the valleys, Escondido, El Cajon, San Marcos, La Mesa, Santee and Poway from noon until 7 p.m.

Strong high pressure over the eastern Pacific and weak offshore flow was expected to bring much warmer weather Wednesday through Friday in San Diego County, the National Weather Service said.
