SDSU Student Sexually Assaulted Saturday In Her Apartment

A San Diego State University student was sexually assaulted in her apartment early Saturday, an SDSU police detective said.

The assault occurred about 1:40 a.m. Saturday at The Granada on Hardy apartment complex at the corner of Hardy Avenue and 55th Street across from the SDSU Sports Deck, SDSU police Detective Cruz said.

The victim did not know the suspect, who followed her to her apartment while trying to befriend her, Cruz said. The suspect followed the victim into her bedroom and assaulted her, then fled the area when the victim's roommate arrived.

He was wearing a baggie gray shirt with multi-colored sleeves.

SDSU police warned people to observe some basic precautions to protect themselves, which include always being aware of your surroundings, avoiding dimly lit locations, avoiding becoming impaired by alcohol and to immediately report any suspicious activity to police.
