For 33 years, Media Arts Center San Diego’s San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF) has championed Latino voices and storytelling, creating a space for narratives that reflect the richness and complexity of our communities. In a time when these stories are more important than ever, the festival continues to celebrate film as a powerful tool for connection, reflection, and imagination—rooted in community, love, and respect. The 33rd annual festival runs from March 18–22, 2026, at AMC Mission Valley 20, and the Digital Gym CINEMA SDLFF continues its tradition of bringing audiences together through cinema.
Among this year’s highlights is "American Pachuco: The Legend of Luis Valdez," directed by David Alvarado. Opening Night will feature "Mistura," directed by Ricardo de Montreuil and starring Bárbara Mori. Described by de Montreuil as a love letter to Peru, the film follows a woman on a transformative journey, celebrating the country’s rich cultural identity while challenging societal norms. Additionally, Opening Night will also include a screening of "20 Pounds to Happiness," written by Josefina López ("Real Women Have Curves") and directed by and starring Yelyna De León.
In addition to these films, the festival features 120 shorts, parties, Sonido Latino concerts, and Arte Latino showcases. Visit sdlatinofilm.com for more information!
