  • Celebrate the newest exhibition at OMA West, "The Seed Keeper." Enjoy champagne and charcuterie as you mingle with artists and art lovers at OMA’s Annex Gallery, located inside the Seabird Resort in downtown Oceanside, at 101 Mission Avenue, Oceanside, CA 92054. This exhibition is inspired by the novel "The Seed Keeper" by Diane Wilson, which was selected by the Oceanside Public Library for the National Endowment for the Arts’ Big Read, a grant program that brings communities together through shared reading and discussion of the same book. • Join us at Oceanside Museum of Art for a hands-on Silkscreen Printmaking Workshop on Sunday, April 12, from 2–5 p.m. Guided by artist and educator Frol Boundin, Associate Faculty for Art at MiraCosta College, participants will learn the fundamentals of silkscreen printing and create their own original prints to take home. This workshop is inspired by OMA’s "Matrix Multiplied: Hybrid Approaches to Printmaking" exhibition, which explores the dynamic world of printmaking and the idea of the “matrix,” which is the surface from which multiple prints are created. The exhibition highlights how artists use printmaking techniques to produce repeated images while experimenting with variation, layering, and color. Silkscreen printing is one of the most iconic methods for multiplying images, making it a perfect entry point into the themes of the exhibition. During the session, Frol will introduce the tools and processes of silkscreen printing and guide participants step-by-step through preparing a screen, applying ink, and pulling prints. All materials are included in the workshop fee, and no prior experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to get a little messy. Come explore the art of making multiples and leave with a set of your own hand-printed works. Ticket Prices: Adult: $75 Member: $55 Space is limited. Register today! • Join OMA’s Free First Sundays for Art for All! Each month, OMA welcomes friends and neighbors on Free First Sundays to join in Art for All, our fun hands-on art-making experience led by artists and cultural partners from our community. In celebration of the Big Read in partnership with Oceanside Public Library, this April’s Art For All draws inspiration from "The Seed Keeper." Participants will create native plant clay seed bombs. These are small, sculptural clay forms filled with local, pollinator-friendly native seeds. These unfired clay shapes can be placed in your yard or garden, where the clay will naturally break down and allow the seeds to take root in the soil. Whether you’re new to art or have your own creative flow, Art for All is the time to let your imagination soar. Visit our current exhibitions to spark your creativity! Explore different art-making materials through creative projects at each session while learning from local and regional artists. Check back each month to see what we’re up to next! These informal drop-in workshops are open to all ages. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All materials are provided free of charge, while supplies last. All levels welcome! Oceanside Museum of Art on Facebook / Instagram
