  • Vintage & Book Sale to Support Library The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library invite the community to a Vintage & Book Sale on Saturday, June 20, in the Oceanside Civic Center Library Community Room and Courtyard at 330 North Coast Highway. The event features vintage items for purchase, as well as a large book sale, with most used books on sale for only one dollar. The sale opens at 10 a.m. to all, but begins early, at 9 a.m., for Friends of the Oceanside Public Library members only. Memberships, starting at $20 per year, are available for purchase at the door. The Library has creative volunteers, staff, and Friends members who have collected and donated an array of one-of-a-kind keepsakes and vintage items most often found at estate sales or antique stores. Treasures are from every corner: jewelry, home goods, décor, accessories, and art, to name a few. Thousands of great bargain books will be available for purchase. The book sale offers a mix of books and DVDs, all priced at just $1 each. Unique gift books, art works, and puzzles are specially priced. Volunteers will be on hand to assist attendees in finding and purchasing items. The event will also feature works by local artists. Proceeds from memberships and fundraising events such as these make Library programs for all ages possible. The Friends of the Library support everything from purchasing books for the Library’s collection to funding events such as storytimes, teen activities, technology assistance, and community-centered programming—including cultural celebrations, Homework Helpers, and Library Club for adults with special needs. The mission of the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library is to support and promote the services and resources of the Oceanside Public Library through community involvement, volunteer activities, and fundraising.   • Oceanside's California Surf Museum has been celebrating the history, art and culture of surfing for 40 years. Plus, an interview with world surfing champion Shaun Tomson ahead of an event at the museum.

Join us at the Brooks theater to meet Hill Street’s founders, Marge and Dinah, and learn more about our building plans from architect partners Object Projects. Teaching Artist Lissa Corona will be on hand to lead participants in an art activity focused on local perspectives of Oceanside. Supplies will be provided and are yours to keep after the event. We’re excited to share what we’ve learned in our feasibility study and collaborate with you as we design our next steps.   • Kick off the 13th season of the First Friday Art Walk Oceanside on Friday, May 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Oceanside. This free, family-friendly event features over 60 local artists, makers, and creatives showcasing unique, handmade work in Artist Alley and the Civic Center Library Plaza, along with live music throughout the evening. Returning for its second year, the After Art Party continues from 8 to 9 p.m. with a live performance by Jaco Mello on the Civic Center Library Plaza stage. In conjunction with the Art Walk, the Oceanside Museum of Art will offer free admission from 5 to 8 p.m., including a docent-led tour at 6 p.m. and a cash bar with beer and wine. This film is a surrealist sci-fi action-comedy directed by The Daniels, that follows Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh), a stressed, exhausted Chinese-American immigrant. While undergoing an IRS audit, she discovers she must connect with parallel universe counterparts to stop a multiversal threat, ultimately exploring themes of nihilism, family, and generational trauma. Through film and community gathering, Arts Unite celebrates underrepresented voices and the transformative power of the arts to foster connection, reflection, and unity. Rated R.
