Fighting Erasure: A Discussion on Gentrification and Displacement in San Diego

Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 6 PM
Virtual
Free

Join us for a discussion on gentrification in San Diego. Escalating housing prices and rents can squeeze residents out of established neighborhoods, often erasing a community’s cultural identity. But does it have to be this way? Race and Equity Reporter Cristina Kim moderates a discussion with a panel of experts and community members on the impact of gentrification on neighborhood identity. A question and answer session will follow.

Guests include:

Tau Baraka - Barber and resident of Southeast San Diego

Julie Corrales - Policy Advocate for the Environmental Health Coalition and a resident of Barrio Logan

Isaac Martin - Department Chair for Urban Studies and Planning at UC San Diego
