Coffee with Kafka and Bernhard Schlink

Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 1 PM
Pan's Garden in Sherman Heights
Free
$10 suggested donation for refreshments

Germany's most successful living author, Bernhard Schlink will be talking about his latest book, "Olga", and his connection to Franz Kafka, one of the greatest writers in literary history, in conversation with Kafka's Last Love author Kathi Diamant. This intimate event held in a private garden marks one of his few stops on his U.S. book signing tour. Professor emeritus of law at Humboldt University, Berlin, and Cardozo Law School, New York, Schlink is the author of many internationally bestselling novels, including The Reader (1997), which was selected as an Oprah pick and made into an Oscar-winning film featuring Ralph Fiennes and Kate Winslet. Since then, he has continued to write powerful and disquieting books that raise moral questions about Germany immediately following WWII. His latest novel, Olga, a story of love, passion, and history, was a #1 international bestseller and follows "Olga" from late-19th century to modern-day Germany.

Following the conversation, Bernhard will answer questions. Refreshments will be served. Reservations are required. Seating is limited.
