2022 Election Review: What the midterm results mean for the future at the state, local and national level

Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 7 PM to 8:30 PM
UCSD, Social Sciences Public Engagement Building, 7th floor conference room
Free

When the 2022 midterm election is over, will you be breathing a sigh of relief or will you be worrying even more and sleeping even less?

What will be the implications of the results at all levels of government – local, state and national? What were the most surprising results? What are the implications for the next presidential election?

Thad Kousser, Professor in the UCSD Political Science Department, will give us his overview of the most important election results. Professor Kousser studies American state and national politics, voting reforms, direct democracy, and how politicians use social media. He joined the department in 2003 and has served as chair 2016-2022. He is a frequent commentator on American politics for venues such as NPR, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times.
