“The Manchurian Candidate” (1962. 126 minutes) - Visionary director John Frankenheimer’s jazzy, daring, delirious, and wickedly satirical political thriller. A U.S. Army sergeant (Laurence Harvey), a POW during the Korean War, is programmed to become a sleeper assassin in a Communist conspiracy. Frank Sinatra is a fellow POW who uncovers the sinister plot. Angela Lansbury gives a bravura performance as the Machiavellian wife of a staunch anti-Communist senator. With Janet Leigh.
