“ARRIVAL” (2016. 115 minutes)
Why are they here? Denis Villeneuve directed this hypnotic, visionary and mysterious tale of humanity’s first contact with alien culture. When an extraterrestrial monolith lands in the wilds of Montana, a linguist (Amy Adams), an Army Colonel (Forest Whitaker) and a military physicist (Jeremy Renner) are enlisted to decode their language and communicate to determine their intentions.
This film screening acknowledges Coronado Public Library’s 2023 Coronado Community READ: “Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir.
FILM FORUM CORONADO is held in the Winn Room at the Coronado Public Library, on the first and third Wednesdays, with a brief introduction before the film and a discussion afterward, led by Ralph DeLauro. This program is presented by Coronado Public Library and Coronado Island Film Festival.
