From the organizers:
The San Diego Early Music Society welcomes back Concerto Köln, a long-time favorite of San Diego audiences. This season, they return with renowned Trinidadian soprano Jeanine De Bique to present "Mirrors," a program of arias by Handel, Graun, Riccardo Broschi and others, exploring how the same opera heroine such as Cleopatra, Rodelinda, and Alcina, might be differently conceived by major Baroque composers. The program is titled after their 2021 album that was enthusiastically received by critics and the public.
Jeanine De Bique has been praised for her “dramatic presence and versatility (Washington Post) and “sheer, endless wealth of color and nuances… [and] free-floating timbre” (Opernwelt).
With rich texture and bold femininity, Jeanine De Bique releases her debut album 'Mirrors' on October 22, 2021 on Berlin Classics! Miss De Bique is accompanied by the renowned baroque orchestra Concerto Köln, with musical direction by Luca Quintavalle. The album focuses on baroque arias and includes three world premiere recordings. Arias of heroines such as Rodelinda, Alcina and Cleopatra, composed by George Friderich Handel and his contemporaries- Carl Heinrich Graun, Riccardo Broschi and Georg Philipp Telemann complete the program.
