How to start vermicomposting |
• Build or purchase a worm bin
• Create bedding with newspaper or coconut coir
• Place the bin in a well-ventilated and temperate area
• Add your worms
Feed your worms fruit and veggie scraps (there are a few exceptions!), give them some grit, like your crushed-up eggshells and they're ready to go! You may want to start out with a small amount of food, since worms can be overwhelmed by too much at once.
Harvest the castings and mix them in with soil to benefit both your indoor and outdoor plants.
