Join San Diego Alzheimer’s Partners for a Free Community Event in San Diego

The Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) and over a half-dozen of San Diego’s Alzheimer's partners invite the community to a free event on March 23, 2024, USC Day of SCervice, in support of accelerating Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research.

Event Highlights Include:

- Expert Panels: Hear from leading experts in the field, including ATRI physicians and advocates.
- A screening of “Remembering Gene Wilder” (2023, 92-mins)
- Accessible to All: Spanish translation services will be provided.
- Renowned Speakers Lending Their Voices
- Our impressive lineup of speakers brings diverse perspectives on Alzheimer's research and personal experiences:

Dr. Paul Aisen, MD: Founding Director of Alzheimer's Therapeutic Research Institute, Professor of Neurology and Epstein Alzheimer's Disease Director's Chair
Dr. Michael Rafii, MD, PhD: Prominent Professor of Neurology and Medical Director of ATRI
Dr. Michael Plopper, MD: Psychiatrist and director of Sharp Neurocognitive Research Center at Sharp HealthCare
Karen B. Wilder: Alzheimer's advocate and wife to the late comic actor Gene Wilder

Day's Agenda:
- 9:00 a.m. A coffee truck and snacks will be available for attendees
- 10:00 a.m. Morning panel moderated by CBS 8 Evening news anchor Carlo Cecchetto begins with insights from ATRI physicians Dr. Paul Aisen and Dr. Michael Rafii, along with Dr. Michael Plopper from Sharp HealthCare. Special guest Karen Wilder will share her personal journey and the making of the film chronicling her husband Gene Wilder's life.
- 11:30 a.m. Q&A begins
- 12:00 p.m. Lunch for registered event attendees.
- 1:00 p.m. Afternoon panel moderated by Glenner Centers advocate Kimberly King, "Lived Experience of Taking Part in Alzheimer’s Research: Perspectives from Two Latina Care Partners", with Lupe Morales (Co-Chair of the ACTC Research Participant Advisory Board) and Cynthia Sierra (ACTC Research Participant Advisory Board)
- 2:00 p.m. A screening of “Remembering Gene Wilder” (2023, 92-mins)

“We are excited to participate. We all have a shared goal to generate more clinical trial participation. These clinical trials are vital to the work we do” said Janet Hamada-Kelley, Executive Director, Alzheimer’s Association San Diego & Imperial County. “Without clinical trials, there can be no better treatments, no prevention, and no cure for Alzheimer's disease.”

RSVP for a Day of Discovery

This no-cost event is open to all, but all attendees must individually RSVP at http://atrinews.usc.edu/2024-day-of-scervice-eng for English-language speakers or http://atrinews.usc.edu/2024-day-of-scervice-esp for Spanish-language speakers. This event will be overbooked and auditorium seating will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early to secure your spot as seating is limited.
