Did you know one of downtown’s visionaries William Heath Davis Jr. was Hawaiian? Come learn about Downtown San Diego’s Hawaiian heritage with an afternoon of food, dance, music, prizes, and more!

Join us for a fun 19th Century-style celebration honoring William Heath Davis Jr, known as "Kanaka Bill", the first developer of downtown San Diego! At this period style celebration, we bring back the enchanting Hawaiian Monarch Period where we encourage ladies and gentlemen to come dressed befitting of the times. Hawaiian hula dance and songs will be performed honoring the heritage of Kanaka Davis whose trade, commerce, civic, and family times are reflected in the Mexican Rancho tradition and Hawaiian Edwardian styles of the period. Hats were in fashion and, of course, lei.
