Journey Through the Middle East: A Visual Tour with William Slomanson

Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 4 PM
Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Library
All Ages
Free

We are all aware of the conflicts in the Middle East. But we could benefit from: (1) traveling there or (2) being taken there via William Slomanson's photo presentation of some spectacular venues and discussion about the (primarily nonpolitical) history of the "Bible Belt": Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and Palestine. Did you ever wonder about what that area of the world actually looks like? Why it's a tourist hot spot for sophisticated travelers? Attending this presentation will yield the ability to more intelligently think and communicate about the Middle East. Cosponsored by the American Society of International Law.

In addition to serving as a Professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Professor Slomanson has authored, co-authored, or edited 28 books. He has lectured on international topics in numerous countries.

The Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Harley & Bessie Knox Library is located at 215 West Washington Street, between Front and Albatross Streets. This library was opened on Jan 26, 2019 and serves the communities Bankers Hill, Hillcrest, Middletown, Mission Hills and Old Town. Named in honor of the late philanthropists Harley and Bessie Knox, the new Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Library expects to have 350,000 patron visits each year. The 15,000-square-foot library is more than triple the size of the community’s previous library that was built in 1961. It features modern amenities, including designated areas for teens and young children, a community meeting space, study rooms, computer labs, drought-tolerant landscaping, an underground parking garage and a design expected to achieve LEED Gold certification.
